this poster is illegal

So what is a Texan to do? Comply of course.

This year, Texas SB 10 was passed, REQUIRING all Texas classrooms to prominently show a poster of the 10 Commandments. This law is inherently unconstitutional, but you can take action in the classroom.

About

Make our classrooms constitutional again!

Texas SB 10 is illegal. The passing of Texas SB 10 FORCES all schools in Texas to display the Ten Commandments (specifically the King James Version) in every classroom – a blatant violation of our Constitutional rights.

Right now there is a lawsuit to repeal this mandate, and it may take months to come to a conclusion.

But don’t worry! In the meantime, we will help you comply with this illegal bill as good Texan folk love to do.

Built to Spec

All posters are sized at 16 x 20 and display only the mandated text required to meet compliance with Texas SB 10.

What about Readability?

Don't worry! We made sure to make the colors and font ADA compliant with a high contrast ratio so all can enjoy this text.

DIY Versions

Each poster comes with a DIY template that can be printed on standard paper and assembled. Be sure to frame these versions to meet compliance

Comply –

but make it design

Since the bill states that schools must accept privately donated posters that meet the legal requirements, we created 100% compliant versions for you to download, print, and donate to your local classrooms yourself.

We even came up with companion posters that give a little context to this matter. They can be displayed next to your display of the Ten Commandments to ensure this over-reach of unconstitutional power can become a teaching moment for our children.

rainbow poster

"When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will appear in the clouds, and I will remember my covenant with you and with all living creatures. Never again will the floodwaters destroy all life"

With displays this striking, how could anyone miss the message? Don't worry- we made sure to make the colors and font ADA complient so all can enjoy this text.

PRISM & CHEVRON posters

Texas passed a bill banning all flags in classrooms, as they are considered "politically motivated indoctrination."

These posters, however, are NOT flags and have been mandated to be displayed in all classrooms IF THEY ARE DONATED to schools.

So let's fill every classroom in Texas with these colorful designs!

*These designs, while visually similar, are not the Pride flag. They use different colors, exclude several graphic elements, and are not intended to be used as a flag.

FULL COLOR? IN THIS ECONOMY!?

A black and white version of the poster with the companion poster, to print together or separate, in case you already have a lovely poster in your classroom.

The law requires the poster to be sturdy, so if you're printing them yourself, be sure to put them in a tasteful frame or laminate it so that it remains compliant.

Printing

LEt's get printing!

Compliance is key, so here are the steps to getting these posters in every classroom in Texas!

1

In order to meet the requirements of the mandate, the poster must:

  1. Contain only the exact text as set out in the statute, with no additional text or imagery.

  2. Use fonts that are clearly legible to a person of average vision from anywhere in the classroom.

  3. Measure at least 16x20 inches.

  4. Printed on a durable poster or framed copy (we recommend using heavy paper or getting a frame yourself)

  5. Prominently displayed where it can be easily seen anywhere in the room.

We have ensured points 1 - 3 are met in these designs, so do not alter when printing!

2

We recommend finding a local printer - you could even ask for a partial donation or discount if they are sympathetic to this cause. Even if they don't, it helps to spread the word locally about this initiative.

So print off as many as you want – the more copies that make it into classrooms, the better!

If you're shy, you could look for an online printer; we've linked some options below:

Most schools have already received donations from large groups and corporations with agendas, but you can make a difference! Give your teachers and administrators the choice of which poster they'd rather display.

Texas SB 10 allows schools to use district funds to print posters.

Donations to public schools are tax-deductible.

This site is operated by private citizens, not a corporation or any sort of organization.

We saw kids and teachers feeling powerless to make any real change in their schools and we wanted to do something about it.

We believe decisions about displaying the Ten Commandments, flags, posters, or other political materials in classrooms should remain within the power of the US Constitution.

For decades, local control has allowed educators to make thoughtful, context-appropriate choices to best serve their students, and we believe they should have the power to continue to do so.

This site is meant to be a resource for teachers, students, parents and fellow Texans to take back some of that power that seems to be taken from us on a daily basis.

That's why I started the illegal poster project.
